Yan
Yan Bachynsky is a Ukrainian visual artist, curator, and film director whose practice is focused on queering grand narratives.
His approach is juxtaposing of own experience with dominating views on collective traumatic events, trying to reach integrity and create an
image of a more safe future.
His films have been screened at Marseille's International Film Festival, Ibrida Festival delle Arti Intermediali, International Video Art Forum in Dammam, and many more.
After receiving a master's degree in philosophy from the Taras Shevchenko National University of Kyiv, he received a master's degree from the Art Academy of Szczecin. During that time Yana was also a co-founder of the NGO Art Platform and a senior researcher at the Kyiv history museum.
